RiseSmart. Really nice people. Authentic. And they were looking for something that captured their special magic, their unique personalities.

 

RiseSmart helps people find employment when they find themselves suddenly laid off. They're sort of angels, so it's important to show their humanity. These are the people who are going to help you make a soft landing when you hit turbulence. Seeing them as people is important.

 

To capture their softness yet still convey competence I photographed them in natural light, in their reception area, against a wooden backdrop. The wood creates a nice tone. It picks up the orange in their logo and what really helped was the orange chair I had them all sit in.

I did forty-four portraits, all before 1pm, with minimal disruption.
